The Shiatsu College is proud of its teaching team. Our founders collaboratively evolved the core curriculum of the professional training in 1986. It was more than twice the length of any Shiatsu Course in Britain at the time, representing our refusal to compromise on quality. Since then the College’s reputation for professional excellence has continued to grow.

The founder teachers remain a vital part of our team and their continual development ensures that Shiatsu College standards stay exceptionally high. Among their achievements:

  • Two key texts at the base of many Shiatsu courses in the UK are written by Shiatsu College founding teachers – “Shiatsu Theory and Practice” by Carola Beresford-Cooke and “The Book of Shiatsu” by Paul Lundberg
  • Nicola Pooley has published the highly successful “Shiatsu in a Nutshell” aimed at clients and introductory level students
  • Clifford Andrews is pioneering postgraduate development including e-learning approaches and world-wide practitioner support through initiatives such as the internationally-known Post-Graduate Course
  • Cliff and Nicola have established the leading Shiatsu College Teacher Training, with practitioners coming from across Europe and the USA to work with them

Our teachers regularly gather to improve the College, learning from each other and have fun!

Our Branch principals and other teaching staff are graduates of The Shiatsu College. This, along with a continued commitment to the College as a collaborative body, ensures a coherence in teaching that is unsurpassed. However, just like the founder teachers, they bring individual approaches and interests to their delivery of Shiatsu teaching. This enables the College to continue to thrive and grow and for students to find approaches that best support their needs.
